News & Notes


MLB

- New York Mets OF Jeff Francouer told the New York Post Tuesday, that Colorado Rockies P Jason Marquis wants to pitch for the Mets next season. The to-be free agent pitcher is having a career year and would really bolster the Mets' rotation. "He'd love to come here, " Francouer told the Post.
- The Dallas Morning News is reporting that a former big-time baseball agent is in the running to buy the Texas Rangers. Dennis Gilbert is the front man for investors who have been approved by Major League Basebal Group for the team. Gilbert used to represent Barry Bonds, Jose Canseco, George Brett and Bobby Bonilla.

NBA

- The Denver Nuggets have acquired James White from the Houston Rockets in exchange for the draft rights to Axel Hervelle, a 2005 draft pick.
- Restricted free agent, PG Raymond Felton, has accepted a one-year, 5.5 million dollar qualifying offer from the Charlotte Bobcats. This deal has been discussed since the start of the free agency period. Felton was the only notable free agent left on the market. Felton has played his entire career with the club.
- The San Antonio Spurs have signed G/F Keith Bogans to a one-year contract. Terms were not disclosed.
- The Miami Heat have extended the contract of head coach Erik Spoelstra. This comes weeks after basketball operations employees including, President Pat Riley, took pay cuts. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

NFL

- The Arizona republic is reporting that Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald and QB Kurt Warner are not seeing eye-to-eye this season. Larry's brother, Marcus, insulted Warner on Twitter following Sundays win over Jacksonville.
- The San Diego Chargers have signed DT Alfonso Boone.
- The Baltimore Ravens have traded LB Prescott Burgess to the New England Patriots in exchange for a conditional seventh round draft pick.

NHL

- The Los Angeles Kings have agreed to terms on a three-year entry-level contract with F Kyle Clifford.
- The Colorado Avalanche have agreed to terms on a three-year entry-level contract with F Ryan O'Reilly.
- Colorado Avalanche D Tom Preissing will be out 4 to 6 weeks to have a scope done on his left knee.

MMA

- Contrary to recent rumours, Frank "Twinkle Toes" Trigg, will remain with the UFC following his loss to Josh Koscheck at UFC 103. Many thought it would be his last fight of his career if he lost.
