- According to the
Chicago Tribune, one National League scout said that OF Alex Rios, acquired earlier this season from the Toronto Blue Jays, is the type of player that could get a GM fired. "He's a teaser, " the scout told the
Chicago Times. "He can get you fired."
- Minnesota 1B Justin Morneau's season is over. The Canadian slugger has a stress fracture in his lower back that may require surgery. This makes the Twins chances of a late-season run slim to none.

ESPN is reporting that San Francisco Giants P Randy Johnson is close to returning to the team from a left shoulder injury. Johnson will come out of the bullpen for the remainder of the season.
NBA
- San Antonio Spurs SF Richard Jefferson dislocated his thumb today at the Spurs' practice facility. He will be re-examined next week to determine when he will be able to resume basketball activities.
- The NBA has fined Golden State Warriors SF Stephen Jackson $25,000 for making public comments demanding a trade
- The Dallas Mavericks have re-signed F James Singleton to a 1-year contract. They also made another move today, releasing G/F Greg Bucknor
- The Philadelphia 76ers have singed F Rodney Carney today. Carney spent his first two season in Philadelphia. Financial information was not disclosed.
- The Phoenix Suns have officially bought-out the contract of SG Sasha Pavlovic who was acquired in the Shaquille O'Neal trade earlier this summer. Pavlovic was bought out for $500k.
- New York Knicks C Eddy Curry has returned to the team early for training camp. Curry missed the majority of last season due to personal issues. Check out the links below.

- According to the
Dallas Morning News, Mavericks F Tim Thomas has injured his knee while playing in a pick up game. If he is not ready for camp, he will definitely be fined.
- Free Agent SF Jerry Stackhouse is working out with Hawks players in Atlanta. After being bought-out by Memphis earlier this off-season, he is still looking for a contract.
NFL
- The Philadelphia Eagles have officially signed QB Jeff Garcia. Garcia returns to the Eagles, he played for the team in 2006. Financial information still hasn't been disclosed. The signing comes after QB Donovan McNabb broke a rib in the season opener on Sunday. This makes the quarterback situation in Philadelphia very interesting. QB Michael Vick's will be able to play come Week 3 and you can't expect McNabb to be out very long with a broken rib. Keep an eye on the situation.
- The Eagles made another move today, adding QB Michael Vick to the active roster. Philadelphia now has four quarterbacks on their roster.
- Former Vikings WR Bobby Wade has signed with the Kansas City Chiefs.
- The Carolina Panthers have signed QB A.J. Feeley to back up QB Jake Delhomme. Delhomme played horribly in the season opener on Sunday, turning the ball over 5 times in the game without a rushing or passing touchdown. Feeley may get a chance to fight for some minutes in Carolina this season.
NHL
-Toronto Maple Leafs rookie G Jonas Gustavsson underwent minor heart surgery today to repair an irregular heart rhythm. Coach Ron Wilson told reporters that Gustavsson will be away from the team for two days and won't dress "until he is ready". Earlier in training camp, while on the bike, Gustavsson became dizzy and was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons.
- The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed C Antoine Vermette to a 5-year contract extension. As per club policy, financial terms were not disclosed.
- According to the
Associated Press, the Florida Panthers have signed D Dennis Seidenberg to a one-year deal.
- The St. Louis Blues have picked up the 2010-2011 option on coach Andy Murray's contract.
MLS
- It has been confirmed that Toronto FC Designated Player, Julian DeGuzman, will make his club debut on Saturday in Los Angeles when TFC takes on David Beckham and the Galaxy.
UFC
- UFC Fight Night will take place tomorrow night at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City. The event starts at 8pm and will be televised live on SpikeTV. The card will be headlined by Nate Diaz versus Melvin Guillard and Gray Maynard versus Roger Huerta.
- The Ultimate Fighter: Season 10 Heavyweights will premiere after the event tomorrow night at 10pm, also on SpikeTV. I have posted an exclusive season teaser video in the Featured Videos section. Check it out!
