The NFL season kicked off this week and a lot of the buzz has surrounded Brett Favre joining the Vikings and Michael Vick returning to the NFL. Favre certainly impressed in his debut, although you don't need to do much when your running back rushes for 180 yards. He did look good though. We need to remember that Farve played with a torn bicep for the last three weeks of the season. And this year, he will have a better surrounding cast in Minnesota. IF he stays healthy, the Vikings could make noise in the NFC.
Many people are starting to embrace Michael Vick's return to the NFL and why not right? Everyone screws up at some point in their lives. I don't know the guy personally but I love what he brings to the football field. Although he can't play for the first two games of the season, it already looks like the Eagles are going to rely heavily on Vick this year. One of the reasons Philly went after the QB was because of Donovan McNabb's notorious injury history. Once again, McNabb is on the shelf after Week 1, breaking a rib on Sunday. Even before he left the game, he didn't look so sharp. I have a feeling we are going to see a lot more of Vick this season and Philly might have to make a decision between the two quarterbacks that could stir up controversy. It is going to be interesting to see how it all pans out.
Okay. So who's the biggest idiot of the week? It's a tough one between Serena Williams and Kanye West...
Not a big tennis fan, but the Williams sisters have a certain edge to them along with sex appeal that always makes them a main attraction. Serena lost her cool (too put in in nice terms) on a U.S. Open line judge over the weekend. After a couple of close calls, Serena approached the judge with her finger pointed, shouting profanities and allegedly threatened the judge. Her tirade costed her $10,000 dollars US and has a lot of people questioning her character. If you haven't seen the video yet, I've posted it in the Featured Video section. Check it out.
Here's some non-sports news for everyone. Last night at the the MTV awards, outspoken Hip-Hop artist, Kanye West, got on stage while country singer Taylor Swift was receiving her Best Female Video Award and took the microphone out of her hand and let everyone know that Beyonce's video was better. Now, we kind of expect this from Kanye but this was Swift's first award. She's young, innocent and you can tell by her reaction and that of the crowd, that it was very unappreciated. At first, I didn't care much. It was just another one of Kanye's antics but in reality, this was a really bad move on his part and the girl definitely deserves an apology that will probably never happen. If you haven't seen the footage, I also posted it in the Featured Videos section.
